What a colorful series of experiences you had! I agree with your conclusion about the gondoliers. Ours also scammed more money from us! Otherwise, I enjoyed our time in Italy although we were only in the north by the Dolomites and in Venice. The timeshare even charged for linens and audited our inventory before we could check out. Must be a lot of theft! I would be deterred by the lack of safety features in walking. So glad you were successful!
